Josh Love (Doctor of Ministry) lives in Dallas, Texas where he works as a chaplain for the community development and poverty fighting organization CitySquare. He’s a native of Portland Oregon where he grew up and developed a deep love for the mountains. Moving to Texas he received a BA in Biblical Texts and Pastoral Counseling from Abilene Christian Univercity. Though far from home he stayed in west Texas to co-found a monastic community called The Allelon House where he lived and worked amongst the poor of Abilene, Texas for six years. In that time he furthered his spiritual formation through a Masters in Missional Leadership from Rochester College, and then in 2016 Josh moved to Dallas to join CitySquare where he serves the poor and homeless along side the case management department at their resource center in the heart of the city. To this day he continues to live in monastic community as a resident of the Bonhoeffer House where he enjoys rhythms of contemplation, daily prayer, and community.
Josh fell in love with the practice of Spiritual Direction when he began his DMin through Lipscomb University. He knew immediently it was a part of his calling as a minister and extended his training to include a certification in Spiritual Direction which he completed in February of 2017.
Josh does his best to live by the moto “what ever love requires and human frailty demands.” His passion is to see others experience the presence of God.
